Santa Maspane
Trainer/rider
Santa was born and raised in Latvia. She started to ride at the age of 11 and began to compete internationally at 16. With support from her parents she was able to travel around eastern Europe, collecting many wins in both jumper and dressage rings. At 20 years old Santa moved to Germany to continue her show jumping career. There she had the chance to work with many young and sales horses. Most notably she competed in the Young Rider European Championships with her own 8 year old Sanremo, who she had trained since age 3. Sanremo was later sold to the USA where he had success as one of the best equitation horses of all time, winning every major final with multiple riders. Only 2 weeks after the European Championships Santa suffered a serious riding accident where she sustained a head injury and badly fractured her C2 vertebrae. After several difficult months of recovery, she was back in the saddle and showing again. She continued producing young horses and competing to the Grand Prix level while obtaining her trainer's license and degree in equine science in Vechta, Germany.
After graduating at the top of her class, Santa received a job offer from hunter trainer Stewart Moran. In 2012 she made the decision to relocate to the USA ind order to learn more about hunters and equitation. During this time she had opportunities to learn from Jimmy Torano, Todd Minikus, David Raposa. She also worked with top horses such as Babalou, La Bonita and many others. Santa was always interested and open to learning something new every day. Throughout the years she has maintained this attitude. During her time in the USA she has trained and sold many hunters, jumpers and equitation horses who have gone on to great success with their riders. Santa has always been passionate about the training of riders as well as horses. To date her students have been successful in all three disciplines, from ponies and to national and international levels.
After an injury in 2017, Santa dedicated herself to her students and developing young horses.
